My father was always determined to send me to college, and I was eager to find a career path that suited me. Throughout college I researched different majors, universities, and careers that I could make a living off of. I wanted an early start, and I think I definitely achieved that. During the summer of my sophomore year in high school, I attended a week college program at SCAD in Savannah. It was definitely one of the best experiences of my life. I was able to meet professors, students, and anyone that could be a resource to me. Although it was fun, and I learned a lot of information; I could not afford to go to SCAD unless I won the lottery. It seemed to be my only hope, since I was interested in working on developing games. I looked into Full Sail University as well as the Art Institutes, all because they had some sort of program in which you worked on games. The same funding issue occurred for Full Sail, and I decided not to go to Art Institutes due to some poor reviews of the college from friends. It came down to Georgia Southern and Georgia State, both seemed like beautiful universities, but they didn't have game development courses. I applied to both, and fortunately was accepted to both colleges. I decided to come to Georgia Southern, and was pleasantly surprised on what I found. A game development club. I have to say, it was one of the best decisions I've ever made to go to that first meeting. Through the club I've networked with employees in the industry, visited companies, and developed some independent games. Now at this point of my life I'm headed in the right direction to building my career.
